About Me

I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. In May of 2016 I graduated from Auburn University with my Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. I applied for dietetic internships the Spring leading up to graduation and was matched with The University of Alabama at Birmingham! UAB's dietetic internship is a distance program so in August of 2016 I moved to Mobile, Alabama. During my internship I gained experience in community, food service and clinical nutrition. In addition to my internship, I took classes online through UAB for my Master's Degree. In August of 2017, I completed both my dietetic internship and my Master of Science in Nutrition Science.
From a very young age I have had a deep love for people and a desire to help others. Between caring for my younger sisters, nannying, and volunteering in a wide variety of service projects, I quickly learned that one of my passions in life is caring for others. As a college student, I began focusing my service work in areas to prevent food insecurity and end hunger on a global level. I quickly discovered that fighting hunger is another strong passion of mine, therefore choosing to study Nutrition and Dietetics was an easy decision for me. As a dietetic intern, I saw first-hand the knowledge-deficit many people have regarding nutrition. Nutrition education is an area I found truly rewarding as it can help prevent both food insecurity and chronic diseases associated with both malnutrition and obesity. I have enjoyed my time at Auburn and UAB immensely but I am eager to move forward into the next stage of my life.
I will sit for the CDR exam in the Fall of 2017. I am confident my education and experience will allow me to lead a successful career in dietetics. I hope you enjoy exploring my website and learning more about me!
